So this is a quite late blog post, considering I was thinking about writing it about…  8-9 hours ago originally. But when my friend Nathalie showed me her blog which she updates basically every day, I felt suddenly as if I had to write something ;P

As to what? Well, on the way on the bus back home I had all kinds of thoughts of course, ranging between Scumm Island and PP, Honor killings and general human dualism and hypocrisy – I barely remember exactly what I was thinking, but I remember looking out the window of the bus at some guy walking AS I was thinking the thought I am now trying to remember. Ironic, isn’t it? A nonsense observation thought tied to a proper philosophical question, and then you only remember the unimportant one…

Yeah… Basically we watched a 1,5 movie about honor killings, mainly in Jordan, and I got bored halfway through. I sort of got the point. Women are fragile, if they are raped, they must be killed so the honor of the family blah blah. Basically it was very easy to see that the problem lies as always in when people view their religion as whatever they already believe in as THE ABSOLUTE, IRREFUTABLE TRUTH. But while Imams can claim all they want that honor killings have nothing to do with Islam, that’s not really the problem. We know that the concept is older than Islam, but that’s because Islam is a fairly new religion. When it appeared, it was a cultural mish-mash of Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism and local Semitic polytheism. When it was created, it didn’t condemn the misogynic traditions that the clans in the area had had for centuries, and that’s why it was allowed to go on for centuries more. Now, of course there’s part of the Qu’ran that are generally against all cruelty, but that’s just the hypocrisy of man for you. Basically, Islam is not to blame for the view of women that reigns in the Middle-East and in Islamic countries, but it has encouraged it, with its segregation of men and women, view of women as man’s property, et cetera. Of course this view has existed in Christianity and Judaism as well, and partly still does, but we’ve sort of… gone past that stage a long time ago. We convinct the rapist, and not the rapee, just like you convict the thief and not the person who had things stolen from him.

Wow, that came out as anti-Islamic. I really think it’s a much better religion than for example Hinduism, and a lot of muslims are great people. But I have to say that I do not believe that it originates from God, or that Mohammed is God’s messenger, so the logical conclusion from me must be that it was simply a cultural and racial understanding by the arab tribes of other religions, and because of this, it partly accepted the ridiculously patriarchial view of women.

I  promise to bash another religion next blog entry, so sorry ❤
